A Light in the Darkness.

"I hate myself" she said. The boy turned around and looked at her.

"And why would you do something like that?" he asked inquisitively.

She looked at the ground beneath her, avoiding contact. “Because; I’m broken.”

The boy smiled. “What’s so funny?” She asked.

He grabbed one of her hands, and lifted her chin with his other hand, looking her in the eyes. “Because, you think just because one person came through your life, and shattered you into pieces, that someone else isn’t going to come and put those pieces back together.”

"But who?" She asked.

"Whoever you want to. But if none of those work out, come back to me; I’m sure I can work something out." He smiled and and she smiled. They hung there, in a silent suspension, for several moments.

Finally she broke the silence. “Why did you come into my life? I mean, what made you stop and think ‘hey, I should get to know that girl’?”

He brushed a bit of hair out of his face as he thought. “Well, the day I first saw you, you were sitting in a courtyard crying. The second time I saw you, you were with your friends and you were perfectly happy. That right there showed me that you’re still the same girl you were before whatever happened. You just needed someone to come and help you back up again. Four months earlier, I had had my heart broken by someone. I figured you’d know how it felt. And you gave me my life back.”

She smiled, and began to tear up a bit. He brought her in closer, and she jumped into him, embracing each other. Neither of them had felt that sort of connection in months; two lost souls who happened to find each other, and start something new. Amid the dreary and dark depression that had enveloped both of them, they had found each other and destroyed it together.

I wrote this for a friend. I believe she’ll know who she is. I know you’ve had a rough time, but things will get better. They always do. You saved me, maybe its time for me to save you. :)
